Blake Barnett grew up in Little Rock, AR, finding quartz crystals as early as age 5 at construction sites in his neighbourhood. At the age of 17, he began to build a mineral collection by attending shows and purchasing specimens from time to time. By 21, his tastes had outgrown his budget and he began to sell some of his earlier specimens to obtain higher end pieces.

Over the years, this pursuit has grown into a fruitful business that allows him to follow his passion on a daily basis. Since officially starting Barnett Minerals, Inc. (formerly American Fine Mineral Consortium), Blake has traveled to most of the major US shows, setting up at Tucson, Denver, Houston, New York and attending shows like Springfield, Massachusetts and Munich, Germany.

Blake is also an avid field collector, focusing on minerals in Texas, including celestite, calcite, strontianite, barite, smoky quartz, amethyst, feldspar, pyrite, and many other species. Some of his finds can be seen in major collections across the state. He has also collected at such localities as the Fat Jack Mine in Arizona, Hallelujah Junction in Nevada, and a number of quartz mines in Arkansas.

Blake met Courtney in 2012. They were married in January of 2014. Courtney has become an integral part of the business. Courtney brings a wealth of office experience from many years of working with her family’s construction company. She takes and edits photos, inventories specimens, makes labels, and keeps the business organized.

Courtney’s love of travel and passion for meeting new people, coupled with her administrative skills have become an integral part of Barnett Fine Minerals. She is now building a mineral collection with an underwater theme. Aside from Courtney’s collection, the couple is also building a Texas collection and a worldwide collection of investment grade minerals.

Barnett Fine Minerals source minerals on a global basis. Recent acquisitions include many exceptional minerals from localities such as Erongo, Klein Spitzkoppe, Milpillas and Vera Cruz. Blake works closely with his customers and suppliers and has acquired a number of major collections over the years. Passion, Integrity and a focus on Aesthetics lies at the heart of Barnett Fine Minerals.
